Karen B. Miller
I started painting in 1997. Prior to that I had never had the slightest interest in art. I studied watercolor for several years with Evergreen, Colorado artist Laura Mehmert and then branched out to work in acrylics, pastels, and mixed media in which I have been self taught. I work out of my studios in Evergreen, Colorado, and Fort Myers, Florida. I have spent almost thirty years hiking, camping, and traveling throughout Colorado. The subject matter of my paintings derives from these activities. Sometimes I paint on site, but mostly work in my studio inspired by the thousands of photographs I have taken over the years. I love gardening. Most of the floral paintings are of the flowers in my own garden. The wildlife paintings capture the beauty of the animals who regularly pass through my back yard.
Tennis is a great passion. This photograph was taken at the US Open in New York City.
